University Medical Center “Hadassah”

Hadassah Medical Center is a medical organization that operates two university hospitals at Ein Kerem and Mount Scopus in Jerusalem, Israel, as well as schools of medicine, dentistry, nursing, and pharmacology affiliated with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. American Hadassah Women’s Zionist Organization is one of the largest women’s organizations in the United States,it is  founded by the hospital in the early 20th century, and it still remains as its original owner. Currently the hospital has 22 buildings, 130 departments, 1 100 beds, 31 operating rooms, 9 intensive care units  and several outpatient clinics.

Since its inception, Hadassah’s pacesetting progress has set the standard for medicine in Israel; the standard of excellence. An impressive list of achievements is testimony to Hadassah’s vision and mission. Millions of patients receive medical care with the help of more than 800 doctors, 1 940 nurses and over 1,000 employees of paramedics and other staff.

About 30,000 operations and more than 100,000 dental procedures were performed by specialists of the “Hadassah” medical center in 2009. It Carried out more than 250,000 radiological examinations, and received about 200,000 calls to the emergency room. Constant expansion of the hospitals, construction of new  hospital buildings, the opening of additional departments are  organized in order to meet all the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s discoveries and achievements  in patient care for many years ahead.

There are  following clinical and surgical departments in the “Hadassah” medical center: cardiology, oncology, allergology, hematology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, bone marrow transplant center, women’s health center.
